McKinlay Shire's newly elected council made their Declaration of Office Tuesday 5th April at the Post Election Council meeting held in the Boardroom at Julia Creek Council Chambers.  

The new council consists of re-elected Mayor Belinda Murphy and four councillors.

Returning for a second term is Cr. Philip Curr and Cr. Neil Walker who was unanimously  elected as the new Deputy Mayor. New to their roles Council welcomed Cr. Janene Fegan and Cr. Shauna Royes.

Also attending the meeting and swearing in ceremony were family and friends of the elected where after congratulations were given and morning tea served.

Mayor Belinda Murphy commented “ Council today resolved that Council meetings will be  held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month with this months meeting scheduled for the 19th April  in the council boardroom in Julia creek.

“I would also like to thank the previous Deputy Mayor Tony Batt and Cr Edwina Hick for their passion and commitment and I along with the Councillors are excited for the term ahead”.
