School Holiday Programs
McKinlay Shire Council offers a fun and exciting school holiday program at the completion of every term. The program schedule is released prior to the completion of each term and is available from the Julia Creek State School office and Council's Administration Office.

School Term Sports
Julia Creek Cricket Master Blasters
Coming to Julia Creek State School in term 1 this year, Master Blasters is a super fun, social, safe, cricket program where boys and girls aged 5 to 11 can learn cricket skills and play modified cricket games.
After School Care
In partnership with Julia Creek State School, Council conducts a Sporting Schools Program. This consists of students participating in activities three days per week at the Indoor Sports Centre, Kev Bannah Oval or Julia Creek Swimming Pool depending on the season. The sports vary between terms to allow the children to be exposed to a variety of skills. Participation forms are available from the school office at the beginning of each term. For more information please contact Sport and Recreation Officer, Jordan Morris, via email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (07) 47 467 166.
Sport Awareness for Kindy Kids
Working concurrently with the Julia Creek Early Learning Centre, Council provides an opportunity for some of the youngest members of the Shire to be involved in sport and recreation. Fortnightly, students are taken to the Indoor Sports Centre to complete a fun session focusing on improving their gross motor skills and basic sporting activity.
The Queensland Police Service, Council and Julia Creek State School work together to provide students with knowledge of bike and road safety, and teach the importance of safely navigating their way to and from school. The Julia Creek Bike Safety Track (adjacent to the Indoor Sport Centre) also features real-life traffic scenarios such as round-a-bouts, stop signs and functioning traffic lights for kids to practice their road skills. This facility is free to access.
