Rural Aid Support for Farmers Affected by Recent Weather Events

McKinlay Shire Council wishes to acknowledge the difficult conditions our farming community is facing following the recent monsoon trough, widespread flooding and the impacts of ex-TC Koji across North West Queensland.

Rural Aid is currently operating in the region, providing support to farmers experiencing hardship. While several McKinlay Shire farmers are already registered, Council encourages any affected primary producers to register with Rural Aid so assistance can be offered as quickly as possible. Registration allows Rural Aid to respond more effectively to individual needs.

Services provided by Rural Aid include:

  • Direct assistance for farmers
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Recovery and community programs for small towns
  • $1000 Visa Gift Cards, Fodder Support, Free Counselling

Farmers seeking someone to speak with can contact Rural Aid’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Team on 1300 327 624, where demand remains high across Australia.
