DRFA Program of works 2024

2024 DRFA Works Program

Council has successfully secured funding under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) to restore Shire roads damaged during Tropical Cyclone Kirrily in 2024. These Disaster Recovery Projects are jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding to provide financial assistance for communities affected by disasters. In Queensland, the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) administers the program, offering various relief measures depending on the severity of the disaster.

The 2024 DRFA program falls under Category B, which supports the restoration of essential public assets such as roads and other infrastructure. The total approved funding for this event amounts to approximately $56 million.

Scope of Work

The unsealed road restoration program has been divided into five packages, each covering different regions of the Shire (e.g. South East, North West, etc.), with five contractors engaged to undertake the repair works. An additional sixth package has been awarded for the sealed road network, a contractor has been appointed to deliver the associated restoration works across the Shire.

Construction activities are underway and are scheduled for completion by 30 June 2026, in accordance with the approved funding agreements
