Levels of Assessment

Levels of Assessment

The level of assessment determines whether planning approval is required and the process that applies to the development proposal.

  • Accepted Development

No development application is required, and the proposal does not need to comply with the Planning Scheme. Building and plumbing approvals may still be required.

  • Accepted Development Subject to Requirements

No development application is required if the proposal complies with all relevant Planning Scheme requirements. If the proposal does not comply, a development application is required.

  • Code Assessment

A development application is required and assessed against the relevant Planning Scheme codes. These applications are generally consistent with the intended use of the zone but require assessment to ensure appropriate outcomes are achieved.

  • Impact Assessment

A development application is required and involves a more detailed assessment process, including public notification. Council may also consider broader community impacts and other relevant matters during assessment.
