McKinlay Shire Mayor welcomed the Premier's roadmap to a COVID-safe recovery allowing more travel, more activities and larger gatherings. "It's positive to see the restrictions eased and Outback concessions put in place. The approach to dealing with COVID-19 has to be adjusted accordingly for the bush, as this region has not been affected and does not fit the nation's normal at this time." said Mayor Philip Curr, "The changes will be welcomed by small businesses and will cue the economy's movement in the right direction. With that said, to ensure we gain full recovery, we still need to maintain social distancing and good hygiene."
The Premier has announced that from 11.59pm, Friday May 15, the following will be allowed:
For Outback Queensland, where there have been no COVID cases, two special concessions have been made:
Stage Two, effective 11.59pm, Friday June 12 would provide for:

The Premier said this would include the reviews of border closures and build to 100 customers for venues giving certainty to business, communities and families.
