The Works Foreperson is responsible for supervising tasks that lead to efficient and productive road maintenance in a safe and cost effective manner. This will involve supervision of works on TMR and Council roads including sealed pavement maintenance, shoulder maintenance, gravel re-sheeting, drainage works and the management of labour, plant and contract equipment associated with construction and maintenance projects.

The successful applicant will hold a minimum education to Grade 12 or equivalent and five years experience in plant operation, road construction and road maintenance. Preferably, the applicant will have relevant plant operation tickets, an unrestricted driver licence and a demonstrated ability to supervise and provide support to staff members.

Location: Julia Creek

Council seeks to employ a capable and reliable Labourer. Applicants should possess the skills to undertake required manual duties associated with maintenance/construction of the Shires Parks and Gardens. These duties will be performed within the operation of Council’s Works Department under direct supervision. Applicants must hold a current drivers licence and a Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card).

Desired applicants will possess the following skills and qualifications, or be willing to obtain:

  • Knowledge of hand tool operation;
  • Basic knowledge of horticultural requirements
  • Competent level of skills in job related labour and construction techniques;
  • Competent level of tool equipment handling;
  • Ability to perform manual tasks;

Location: McKinlay

Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Librarian/Tourism Officer to operate the McKinlay Library and McKinlay Centenary Museum.

The position will be based in the township of McKinlay. Hours of work will be four hours per week from October to March and 20 hours per week April to September.

The suitable applicant will be enthusiastic, have good organisational and communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised.

The selection panel is seeking an individual who has a sound knowledge, or is willing to develop an understanding of the McKinlay Shire and its history. Position open.
