Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Librarian/Tourism Officer to operate the McKinlay Library and McKinlay Centenary Museum.

The position will be based in the township of McKinlay. Hours of work will be four hours per week from October to March and 20 hours per week April to September.

The suitable applicant will be enthusiastic, have good organisational and communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised.

The selection panel is seeking an individual who has a sound knowledge, or is willing to develop an understanding of the McKinlay Shire and its history. Position open.

Location: Julia Creek 

McKinlay Shire Council is seeking an obliging and enthusiastic person for the full-time role of Administration Officer at Council’s reception office.

We’re seeking an energetic person with excellent interpersonal skills, who can demonstrate the ability to communicate well with all members of the community. This position will be the first point of contact for visitors to the Council office and is designed to undertake general administration duties including responding to incoming correspondence via telephone and email, processing of daily mail, and providing administrative and secretarial support as required to Council staff.

The selection panel will look favourably towards individuals who have past administration experience, advanced computer skills and the ability to adapt to new and varying roles.

Due to the nature of our organisation you may be required to relieve other areas within the Corporate & Community Services departments.

Remuneration for the above position will be based on Council’s current Enterprise Bargaining Agreement dependent on qualifications and experience.

Location: Julia Creek

McKinlay Shire Council has an exciting opportunity available for a full-time Mechanic to join their Engineering team based in Julia Creek.

The role will conduct mechanical maintenance on Council’s Plant Assets, focusing on providing quality works, safety and a high level of plant availability, under direction from the Workshop Supervisor.  

Desired applicants will possess the following skills and qualifications, or be willing to obtain:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
  • Previous experience in a Workshop
  • Demonstrated time and cost management skills
  • Current Queensland ‘HC’ class driver’s license desirable;
  • Plant Operating Certificates desirable
  • A Knowledge of all mechanical engineering trades;
  • Demonstrated knowledge in maintenance of machinery and mechanical assets;
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety Act and Machinery Act.
