McKinlay Shire Council owns and maintains the local road network to service properties within McKinlay Shire. The majority of these roads are unsealed and may be impassable during wet weather.  McKinlay Shire Council is the maintenance contractor for all state controlled roads in the Shire. Please report any washouts or other road damage on 0428 464 001 or 07 47467 166.

These web cams are situated at sites across the Shire.
The Lara crossing camera is currently unavailable following damage from previous flooding.
Council is working to repair. Please refer to the road report above for road closure information.

Disaster Management Disaster Management

McKinlay Shire Council has the primary responsibility for managing the impacts of disasters and emergencies within our boundaries. The McKinlay Shire Council Disaster Management Plan outlines our disaster management system roles and responsibilities, and provides a framework of sub-plans for our most likely threats, and for the recovery phase following an event.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at or call 1300 659 219. The Bureau and Emergency Management Queensland would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.

Road Strategy Report Road Strategy Report

Council have seen an opportunity to develop this Road Strategy Report as a living document and to continue to engage community through the formation of the McKinlay Shire Roads Strategy Committee. It is the intention of Council that this committee remain in place to ensure grass roots discussion and input of local knowledge across the Shire informs the direction of future Council development, maintenance and expenditure on road infrastructure.

Council needs to be able to provide residents with a clear commitment of service level for roads that allow for economic prosperity whilst maintaining solid financial management of Council, State and Federal funds.
