Make 'At the Creek', your first stop when visiting Julia Creek. Located on the main street, 'At the Creek' is a multi award winning Visitor Information Centre that offers an outstanding selection of travel information brochures, maps and an array of souvenirs that can only be found in Julia Creek. Our friendly local staff are dedicated to helping you experience and enjoy all that Julia Creek, the McKinlay Shire and Outback Queensland has to offer.

This tourist attraction engages in many audio and visual displays that focus on the themes of water, country and people. The centre is housed in historic railway fettler's cottages and provide an authentic snapshot of Outback living. We value our authenticity. You will leave feeling a genuine connection to our people, history, land and our way of life.

'Beneath the Creek', the latest attraction at the centre, provides a hands-on interactive journey through many facets of life in the McKinlay Shire. Make sure you're there for the daily Live Dunnart feeding show. "Duncan" and "Donald" the Dunnarts are real characters. Where else in the world do you get to meet a cute but crazy little dunnart?
