Community Services Team Leader
Position Closes: Extended to 12pm Tuesday 26th June 2018

McKinlay Shire Council has an exciting opportunity available for a full-time Community Services Team Leader to join their Community Services team based in Julia Creek.

The role will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of Community Services as identified in Council’s Corporate Plan. The Community Services Team Leader will be responsible for the supervision of various staff and will be required to provide support to various community organisations to assist in achieving their goals.

Desired applicants will possess the following skills and qualifications, or be willing to obtain:

  • Experience in working in the  area of Community Services for either Local, State or Federal Government;
  • Experience working with local community groups and volunteer organisations
  • Experience with submissions, grant applications and reporting to Government departments
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and provide support
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a budget

Work Health & Safety Risk Management Officer
Position Closes: Monday 2nd July 2018

McKinlay Shire Council seeks to employ a full-time WHS Advisor and Risk Management Officer.

This position is designed to assist in the implementation and coordination of Council’s Safety Management System in accordance with legislative requirements and Council Policies.   The Officer will be required to identify and analyse risks as well as potential risks, and develop additional policies, procedures and work practices to meet Council’s legislative requirements, along with relevant Australian Standards.

The Council is primarily aiming to employ a WHS advisor with a broad knowledge base and the ability to develop skills within Risk Management

The selection panel will look favourably towards applicants who hold a preferred minimum education of Grade 12 or equivalent, in addition qualifications and/or demonstrated experience within OHS, Workplace Training & Assessment and Risk Management.

Parks and Gardens Labourer
Position close:  Monday 25th June 2018 at 5pm

Council seeks to employ a capable and reliable Labourer. Applicants should possess the skills to undertake required manual duties associated with maintenance/construction of the Shires Parks and Gardens. These duties will be performed within the operation of Council’s Works Department under direct supervision. Applicants must hold a current drivers licence and a Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card).

Desired applicants will possess the following skills and qualifications, or be willing to obtain:

  • Knowledge of hand tool operation;
  • Basic knowledge of horticultural requirements
  • Competent level of skills in job related labour and construction techniques;
  • Competent level of tool equipment handling;
  • Ability to perform manual tasks;‚Äč
